Today I have to talk about SALT! I can't get over how much of a difference it's making for me this dry Utah winter and knew I had to share its benefits with you all.
Sodium = the "blood electrolyte"
▫️Rich in trace minerals: it is getting harder & harder to obtain in our foods due to our, sometimes, lack of nutrient rich soils!
▫️Electrolytes prevent dehydration/balances fluid levels: many many people (including Dr's) think that if too much sodium in the body = water retention (which can be true) but also not enough water and not enough salt also = retention. Have #edema? Increase potassium! (importance of potassium and my obsession in a later post). 🚫 Diretics! They will take fluid out and vital minerals along with it! Potassium works hand in hand with sodium and will keep fluid levels without depleting sodium.
▫️Promotes nutrient absorption
▫️Digestive health: Anyone on a low salt diet and have digestive issues or #heartburn? Thats because lack of salt = the above. Sodium =digestive enzymes, aids in elimination of Carbonic acid and halts fermentation!
🤰I can not believe the difference it makes on my pregnancy. I drink at least 68oz regularly and if I do not add salt to my water I'm peeing all day long. When I do, I'm peeing half as much (yes, even pregnant.. I'm 30 weeks and RARELY get up at night to go) AND no retention.
🌨️ My lips and hands tend to get really dry in the winter. Days I add salt to my water.... Zero lotion or chapstick needed! I feel I should post pics of the difference.... Yes I believe I will (stay tuned!)
Salt and potassium go hand in hand. They are VITAL to health. Along with Magnesium it makes up the trifecta of a good foundation.
Do your body/brain/organs a favor and start actually absorbing the fluids you're drinking!!

We use 100 billion plastic bags per year (only 1% being properly recycled).. That's 12 million barrels of oil to make those... Meanwhile, it's being estimated that by 2050 there will be more plastic in the ocean than fish 🐟
HOW TO START⁉️
I started with not buying paper towels anymore and using cloth wipes. It takes getting used to but honestly has reduced trash probably the most.
Next I stopped using produce bags all together. I loathe those little bags..
I then tried to get rid of plastic baggies in the home... This one was difficult. I would use beeswax sheets to wrap cheese in or eco bags from @mindbodygreen for snacks and sandwiches (love their boxes Btw if you're looking for a place to start slowly!!). I still use bags... And hate ever time I do. I gotta get more eco bags.
Bring your own bags (they're cheap! Stock up)
Refuse the receipt (no plastic no BPA)
Bring mason jars or heck, old pillow cases to put bulk or produce in!
I encourage you to be more conscientious about plastic use and start with ONE replacement. That's it!

Keep a Journal
An be as simple as writing about the weather or as in depth as getting our feelings out, gaining perspective on our problems, etc.
You don't have to be a writer! You don't have to make sense!
Turn it into a #braindraining session for an extra therapeutic exercise or have your posterity in mind.
When you actually out pen to paper (not typing ) something unexpected happens. You will never think it will but it's tangible! Getting your thoughts-especially to do lists, problems, "vents", dreams and other thoughts overwhelming your day to day tasks and your brain - out on paper almost physically removes them from taking up much needed room in your brain! And you REALLY do come out the other side with a different lens, a feeling of relief and a space created in your energy to release and receive.
I personally have a journal for my children, a journal for my own thoughts and reflections and my posterity, a to-do list and one especially for New Moon rituals/goals and releasings.
I am not an avid journal writer by any means either! I just do it when I can, on a scheduled day or when I really need to get something out.
